Westerly Hospital hosts panel on topics of Netflix series ‘13 Reasons Why’

WESTERLY — The Westerly Hospital will host a panel discussion featuring experts in issues affecting today’s adolescents that are prominent in the popular Netflix series “13 Reasons Why” — bullying, sexual assault, domestic violence, and suicide.

The discussion will be held on Thursday, from 7 to 9 p.m., in the hospital’s Henry J. Nardone Conference Center. It will be moderated by Dr. Robert Harrison, an instructor in youth mental health first aid and suicide prevention. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.

Panelists will include Leigh Rapoza, Rhode Island Youth Suicide Prevention Program; Patrick Cozzolino, Westerly Middle School social worker; Mary Roda, executive director, Domestic Violence Resource Center of South County and Sandra Malone, director of prevention and training, Day One Sexual Assault and Trauma Center.
